Toronto highs and lows
Flew into Toronto on a double mission: a week of workshopping, training and brainstorming with Infinet, and work on my checklist of Canadian birds.
It's my first time in North-America since 1990, so I don't know what to expect. Immigration was frustrating, but it's always been like that I guess. Checked in to the hotel, and going up in the elevator with a small dog that was barking up to me like crazy. The owner calms him down, and confesses to me: "Today's his big day". "How so?" I ask. "He's gonna be on television. He's a cancer-sniffing dog." He pauses. "This guy can detect cancer".
Now there's a hopeful start to the week.
Bird score so far: common grackle, house sparrow, ring-billed gull, starling, northern flicker. Bought a field guide.
